Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you find a decline in your heating and cooling bill, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and customized for your home, meaning no two projects are the same. Our wide variety of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who will give you a quoted project price once they have seen the project site itself. To expedite the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they’ll have all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the job and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad range of first-rate products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you great window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the renovations you want to while building great value into your St. Paul area home while you do it.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The benefit of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t have to. You can choose the color your want. We do not recommend painting your vinyl products, as this will terminate your warranty. Some paint companies claim that their paint can adhere to vinyl, but it could wreck your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses reliable installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They are required to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We find the best St. Paul-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before we hire anyone, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your St. Paul Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and professional Pella installers means that your project will have the expertise of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why St. Paul homeowners choose Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella is a privately owned, professionally managed company founded in 1925. Each of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with attention to detail and serviced by Pella’s unique Direct Sales Network. Unlike most other window and door companies who sell exclusively through third-party channels, Pella has dedicated replacement window and doors design centers throughout North America. This unique way of doing business gives our customers in St. Paul a highly personal experience with the backing of a local to St. Paul, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a superior quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
